Fort Worth Texas 2009

Bingo-Bango-Bongo – for those that are unfamiliar with that word it refers to a “wild and fun” type of high scoring play in the game of golf.  Thus, the AFS Texas Chapter Regional conference was a “bingo-bango-bongo” type of exhibition for metal casters and Synchro32.  What a wild and crazy time everyone had at the lavish Marriott Resort and Golf Club in Fort Worth Texas – a mere stone’s throw from the Texas International Speedway.  This was a great follow-on to the 113th Metal Casting Congress held in Las Vegas several weeks earlier.  The organizers of the every three year Texas event, in typical Texan style, know how to host an exhibit and make everyone feel warm and welcome.  What a great idea of having a full Mexican food spread with an open bar in the exhibit area!  This gave everyone a chance to walk around and meet with the exhibitors in a relaxed atmosphere.  The event was so relaxed that I even shed my trademark Synchro32 tie and I wish I had worn my Tony Lama cowboy boots, Stetson straw hat, denim Levis, and 1lb belt buckle along with one of my colorful western shirts!  What an impression that would have made on the home office in the UK!  I’m sure Chris and Barbara would have more than rolled their eyes – and Lee – well I’m sure I’d have learned a few more choice “British” words describing my attire from him.

This was the first time that Synchro32 attended the AFS Texas Regional.  The reason that Synchro32 attended this event is that the North American office is located in Austin – which is not far from Fort Worth – thus, it made good business sense to attend and support this local event of which I am also a proud member of. 

I’ll kick up my heels and take my Stetson off to the organizers of this event and give a special Texas “Ya Hoo” to Tim Purcell for insuring that everything went according to Hoyle.  Tim even visited me at the Metal Casting congress in Vegas to insure that I had everything under control and that my needs were being served.
